Pueblo West is the fastest growing community in Colorado, with over 30,000 residents and 400 miles of roadways. Commonly referred to as The Mountain People by the Ute and Comanche Indians, who were among the early occupants of these 50 square miles of rangeland. Pueblo West was used for ranching, supported by the water from the Arkansas River. The Ute Trail, which the tribes used to travel, can still be seen in the forests of Grand Mesa.

There are approximately 4,600 acres reserved for neighborhood parks, playgrounds, and a local greenway that runs all the way to downtown Pueblo. Other attraction includes the Royal Gorge Bridge and Park, Monarch Mountain, and the Pueblo West Equestrian Center, making Pueblo West the gateway to recreation.
