Established in 1872, the area has been historically known as East Pueblo and Park Hill for a time and was one of the very earliest areas in Colorado to be settled by Europeans. East Pueblo is bordered by Interstate 25; to the west lies the Fountain River and rail lines, south is the Arkansas River, Colorado State Highway 47 to the east, and north of East Pueblo is the U.S. Highway Bypass with one portion just west of Colorado 47 rests Eastwood Heights.
The East Side is a place set apart physically by Fountain Creek, which separates the neighborhood from the rest of the city. East Pueblo is home to a mix of classes and ethnicities that live side by side yet are set apart by its economic and cultural diversity.

In 2014, three new libraries were opened to the public and became part of the Pueblo City County Library District. Located in the Greenhorn Valley, on St. Charles Mesa, and Pueblo’s East Side, each library depicts the rich history of each library’s region.
