The recent article “One Pueblo: 21 agencies set to collaborate to help strengthen Pueblo’s economy” by Tracy Harmon published in The Pueblo Chieftain on January 26, 2021 highlights the 258-page “One Pueblo” economic recovery plan prepared by the Business Economic and Recovery Team. The “One Pueblo plan” was designed to strengthen economic resolve and help businesses survive through the coronavirus pandemic. The collaboration of 21 agencies formed this strategic plan with a vision to promote the city’s economic development post-pandemic. The plan priorities include vision alignment, workforce optimization, upgrades to foundational infrastructure, industry targeting, and positioning Pueblo as a creative, forward-thinking location for companies and employees.

Real Estate Investment Agents Benefit the Real Estate Transaction

The well-thought-out plan outlines the strengths and the weaknesses of Pueblo. The report state that “while the state of Colorado is seen as creative, forward-looking, and progressive, the area of Pueblo region is viewed as conservative, stagnant, and rooted in industry and ways of the past.” The reality is that Pueblo growing industries include advanced manufacturing and new technology. Perceptions take time to change, but they do change. Consider the perception of Weld County communities such as Greeley, Frederick, and Firestone as cow towns only a few decades ago. The perception of Weld County has evolved into an area of thriving bedroom communities and new industries. Weld county as an affordable alternative to communities in Boulder and Larimer county was a driving force in this transformation. Pueblo is currently the last remaining affordable alternative along the Front Range of Colorado, expect to see a similar transformation and changing of perceptions.

The economic recovery plan considers how housing and the real estate market can be expanded and increased. The broader idea is how to make Pueblo a place where people wish to live and work.
